Four jazz ensembles, conducted by the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra (AUJO), will perform on Sunday, December 5 inside the Hugo Young Theater. The event, which is free and open to the public, starts at 2:30 p.m.

First up, Inherent Success, made up of six Ashland students, will take the stage and perform a few selections from jazz legends John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and Charlie Parker.

A group of former AUJO students are then scheduled to perform, their songs to be announced from the stage.

Grant V with the Zs, a five-member ensemble of Ashland students, follows and plans to play three classic 1950s jazz standards as well as Chick Corea’s “Amando’s Rhumba”.

The award-winning AUJO will round out the show with six selections, including four traditional Christmas tunes. After playing “Deedle’s Blues” by Grammy winner Diane Schuur and one of Herbie Hancock’s first hits, “Driftin ‘”, it will end with “The First Noel”, “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas “,” Jingle Bells “and” Let it snow.

For more information, contact Scott Garlock, music teacher at Ashland, at 419-289-5134 or sgarlock@ashland.edu.
