Charity concert at the Berlin State Opera

The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Deutsche Bundesbank are supporting a peace concert organized by the Berlin State Opera with its orchestra and choir under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim. The concert will take place in Berlin at 11:00 CET on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

ECB President Christine Lagarde and Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel will attend the concert. Both expressed horror at Russia’s attack on Ukraine. “At this dark time for Europe, our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine,” Ms. Lagarde said, while Dr. Nagel remarked that “Our thoughts are with everyone enduring the suffering of this shocking attack. important that we come together to show our solidarity.

The ECB and the Bundesbank support the charity campaign with their own donations. All proceeds from the concert as well as all other donations will be donated to the United Nations Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund (UHF), which provides humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. To this end, the Bundesbank has established a donation account for the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund.
