Shironamhin fans can mark the calendar and set their alarm as the alternative rock band is set to celebrate its silver jubilee with a mega concert on May 26.

The internationally acclaimed Mumbai Orchestra will also perform alongside Shironamhin at the gala concert, for the very first time in Bangladesh.

The concert titled “The Only Headliner” will take place at the ICCB Bashundhara Expo Zone in the capital.

The group firmly stated that fans will be ready for an unforgettable experience at the event.

Shironamhim will organize the blockbuster concert in collaboration with marketing communications agency Brandmyth Experiential.

The announcement of the event was made during a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Shironamhin leader and multi-instrumentalist Ziaur Rahman said at that time, “As part of our celebrations, we will be collaborating with the famous Mumbai Symphony Orchestra. We are proud to be the first Bangladeshi band to perform with an orchestra.”

“World famous bands like Metallica, Scorpions have captured the hearts of genuine music lovers and their fans by performing with a symphony orchestra,” he added.

Kazi Ahmed Shafin, the drummer-flautist-sarod of Shironamhin, said: “We had to put so much energy and effort into this project over the past six months and we want to assure you that after the concert, the audience will leave the room with an unforgettable experience.”

Two types of tickets, ranging from Tk 699 (regular) and Tk 1499 (VIP), will be unveiled for the concert soon.

“As we want our fans – mostly students and middle-class urban rock fans – to enjoy the event, we tried to lower the price as much as possible,” Ziaur said.

According to Brandmyth, it will be one of the most economical concerts in the history of Bangladesh. “The best sound, stage, lights and other equipment from home and abroad will be used in the concert.”

Due to its fourth-generation LED mapping, viewing at the concert will be unlike any other.

After the mega concert in Dhaka, Shironamhin plans to travel to Nepal and shoot seven music videos.

There are other plans for Shironamhin to perform two concerts in the Himalayan nation.

Upon their return to Bangladesh, Brandmyth hopes to take the group to four division cities where they will rock the stage with their all-time hits.

All of this will lead to a decisive endgame in December 2022 where their Silver Jubilee ride will end with one last big concert, presumably on December 31st.

The entire year’s journey will be documented and Brandmyth will later release a behind-the-scenes documentary depicting the highs and lows, ecstasies and agonies of the year-long Silver Jubilee celebration.

Brandmyth Experiential (formerly Brandmyth Communication) has earned a reputation for delivering on its promise by seamlessly running two of the most acclaimed live events in recent memory – Coffee Carnival and November Rain.

Song cover contest

Earlier in February, Shironamhin launched a cover contest where their fans will cover their popular numbers to win exciting prizes.

Fans will be able to submit their versions of popular Shironamhin songs to [email protected] until March 30.

The winners will be called to the stage of the big concert which should be held in April this year.

Group profile

Shironamhin was formed in 1996, from the union of Ziaur Rahman, Bulbul Hasan and Jewel, when they started playing music together.

In 2000, Tuhin was invited to join the band on vocals and the band’s debut album, ‘Jahaji’ was released in 2004. It was an instant hit, besides gaining critical acclaim.

Four more albums followed – ‘Ichchhe Ghuri’ in 2006, ‘Bondho Janala’ in 2009, ‘Rabindranath’ in 2010 and ‘Shironamhin’ in 2013.

Their current, highly modified line-up consists of Ziaur Rahman on bass and cello, Kazy Ahmad Shafin on drums and sarod, Rayhan Islam Shuvro on guitar, Sheikh Ishtiaque on vocals and Symon Chowdhury on keyboard.

Through all the changes, Zia has remained the one constant and it reflects the fact that it’s her creative vision that has driven the band throughout its existence.
