St. George Theater, WNET and American Classical Orchestra Present Free Virtual Performance of “Peter and the Wolf”

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The children’s classic “Peter and the Wolf” is coming to students in New York and beyond!
St. George’s Theater, in collaboration with the WNET group and the American Classical Orchestra (ACO), presents a virtual production of Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved children’s classic “Peter and the Wolf” to educators and students on PBS LearningMedia as part of the free virtual arts of the theater -In-Education series during the academic year 2021-2022.

“PIERRE AND THE WOLF”
This virtual production of “Peter and The Wolf” features the work in an original arrangement for chamber ensemble by artistic director and founder of the ACO, Thomas Crawford, designed for the award-winning classical music program for children (CMK), as well as than an introduction to the instruments and characters presented.
The story is performed by mimes Catherine Gasta and Bill Bowers, with accompaniment from the American Classical Orchestra, and there is an accompanying teacher’s guide with background information and related class activities. A segmented version is also available on PBS LearningMedia, which makes it easy to share with students.

2021-22 ARTS IN EDUCATION SERIES
In addition to “Peter and The Wolf”, the Arts-In-Education 2021-2022 series features 11 additional virtual performances from local and national theater companies that vary on topics such as math, science, history, the arts. and culture, civil rights. , health and wellness and more.
From December 2020 to June 2021, educators can sign up to receive a new virtual performance each month, accompanied by study guides with before and after activities for students to complete.
