Latvian baritone Valdis Jansons will perform as a soloist at the Choral Society’s Pax + Amare Concert at 7 p.m. May 14 and 3 p.m. May 15 at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara.
Jansons will join members of the Choral Society and Orchestra led by Artistic Director Jo Anne Wasserman, in a program that includes Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ‘Duruflé Requiem’ and ‘Five Mystical Songs’.
Since her operatic debut in 2004, Jansons has sung more than 55 major roles in some 70 theaters around the world, from Verona to Beijing, Lincoln Center to Rio de Janeiro.
Future engagements include solo baritone in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” in June; “Macbeth” in Verdi’s opera in 2023, both engagements for the Opera of Saint-Etienne (France); and Renato in “Un Ballo” by Verdi at Maschera in August, for Opera pa Skaret (Sweden).
