2022 Owensboro Symphony Orchestra Concert on the Lawn
A late summer tradition returns to Owensboro this week. The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and US Bank are teaming up for the 2022 Concert on the lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College. This year’s event is going to offer something for everyone in the family. The theme is Adventure under the stars and will feature some of Disney’s most beloved music.
The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Maestro Troy Quinn and Concert on the Lawn offers fans the opportunity to pack a picnic, bring chairs or a blanket to the KWC lawn and enjoy a good evening of music.
This year, OSO will welcome guest singer Lauren Jelencovich, who has performed in opera and musical theater roles across the country and abroad. She is currently on a world tour with Yanni as the featured singer. In Owensboro on Saturday night, Lauren will perform songs from The little Mermaid and Delighted.
Here is a great video that shows Lauren’s voice. In this one, she sings one of my all-time favorite songs – “The Blower’s Daughter” by Damien Rice. It’s sensational.
While the tables for Concert on the Lawn are officially sold out, there is plenty of room on the KWC lawn. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m., but there will be a pre-show family and activities starting at 5:30 p.m. There will also be food trucks on site!
Fun fact! Many people who attend Concert on the Lawn tend to decorate their tables (and sometimes themselves) in keeping with the theme of the show. OSO Executive Director Gwyn Payne said, “Think of pirates, princesses and tall tales!” Table hosts will compete for two free tickets to the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra Home for the holidays concert scheduled for December 10.
