Cleveland Orchestra Announces Summer 2023 Pops and Movie Concerts Roster
CLEVELAND, Ohio – If last summer’s presentation of “The Fellowship of the Ring” at the Blossom Music Center left you hanging, never fear. The quest will continue.
On Sunday, the Cleveland Orchestra announced its lineup of popular and special programs for the 2023 Blossom Music Festival, and one of the many key attractions is “The Two Towers,” the second film in the “Lord of the Rings” film trilogy.
As before, the film will be shown on large screens in time with a live performance of the film’s music by Howard Shore. Ludwig Wicki will conduct, and the three Friday-Sunday performances, July 28-30, will include the Blossom Festival Chorus and the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus.
It’s not the only film-concert showing this summer. In early July, Sarah Hicks will direct “Jurassic Park,” scored by John Williams, and over Labor Day weekend, Susie Benchasil Seiter will lead a program called “Disney: The Sound of Magic.”
All of this is in addition to several popular pop and classic programs featuring an array of notable guest artists.
Among those slated to perform at Blossom in the summer of 2023 are bandleaders Jahja Ling, Loras John Schissel, Lucas Waldin and Andy Einhorn. Guest soloists include singers Audra McDonald and Capathia Jenkins and pianists Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Michael Feinstein.
The schedule is below. Lawn ticket booklets, $160, and individual tickets, $25 to $121, are available to subscribers Monday and the general public Thursday via www.clevelandorchestra.com or 216-231-1111.
