Concert by the University Orchestra, November 15 |
The University Orchestra will perform a concert on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Stage of the Staller Center for the Arts. Conducted by Susan Deaver, the University Orchestra will perform Ancient Airs and Dances (Suite I) by Respighi, Adoration by Florence Price and Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 2 “London”. The featured soloist is pianist Yumito Torigoe, second winner of the 2022 Undergraduate Concerto Competition, who will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the University Orchestra. Vaughan Williams’ interpretation is part of the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

The University Orchestra is a 70-member ensemble of undergraduate students from Stony Brook University that annually presents a series of concerts at the Staller Center, including the annual Messiah Sing-Along and the annual Family Concert. Susan Deaver has conducted orchestras in the United States, Europe and Asia and is a member of the music faculty at Stony Brook. In 2016, she completed her 25e year as Music Director and Conductor of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra and conducted composer reading sessions with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and numerous festivals in New York and New Jersey.
