Four Maui Pops Orchestra Events on Tap at the Castle Theater

A dedicated orchestra of presenting light classical and contemporary pop music to Maui is several events to complement the previous year and kick off the new one.

This includes: Holiday Pops on December 12, 2021; Broadway Pops on January 23, 2022; Winter Pops on February 20, 2022; and Spring Pops on March 13, 2022. All four events take place at the Castle Theater at Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Holiday Pops

Sunday December 12, 2021, 3 p.m., Théâtre du Château

A long-delayed favorite returns for the holiday season with Maui Pops’ popular Holiday Pops concert. This year, the Pops guest singer is Dee Roscioli. With plenty of Broadway and concert stage credits, Roscioli will include vacation favorites on his schedule, including Winter Wonderland is the most wonderful time of the year, my favorite Things and much more. Pops Music Director James Durham will lead the Maui Pops Orchestra on their long-awaited return to the Castle Theater to a live audience.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Broadway Pops

Sunday 23 January 2022, 3 p.m., Théâtre du Château

The Maui Pops Orchestra’s Broadway Pops Concert, conducted by Music Director James Durham, showcases the vocal talents of Morgan James and Ben Davis, both with numerous Broadway and concert stage credits. Morgan James is a classical singer, Broadway veteran and recording artist. She appeared in Motown: The Musical, Godspell, and The Addams Family. Ben Davis is a versatile singer actor who has made multiple television and stage appearances with the latter, including Les Misérables, a resolutely modern Millie, and A little night music on Broadway. They join musical director James Durham and the Maui Pops Orchestra in celebrating familiar and family music from Broadway and beyond.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Winter Pops

Sunday February 20, 2022, 3 p.m., Théâtre du Château

The Winter Pops Concert, conducted by Music Director James Durham, will feature an afternoon of music with award-winning Hawaiian guitarist Jeff Peterson. The program will include the Maui premiere of Jeff’s Slack Key Guitar Concerto and Orchestra, Mālama ‘Āina.

Maui Pops Orchestra – Spring Pops

Sunday March 13, 2022, 3 p.m., Théâtre du Château

Sarah Uriarte Berry returns to the stage of the Maui Pops Orchestra to offer an afternoon in tribute to Judy Garland & Friends. Sarah is an accomplished actress and musical theater performer who has numerous credits on stage, including roles in Les Misérables, The Light in the Piazza, Beauty and the Beast, and many more. She has performed in five Broadway shows and three nationwide tours. Members of the Pops audience may recall that Sarah appeared with the Orchestra in January 2020 as a last-minute stand-in and made a pretty lasting impression.

Ticket information:

Those who purchase tickets for all four Maui Pops concerts this season are eligible for a discount if tickets are purchased together and before the December 12 concert. Discount excludes $ 22 tickets.

Without discounts, tickets for each concert are $ 60, $ 50, $ 35 and $ 22 (plus applicable fees). Students 18 and under with ID pay half the price (except for $ 22 tickets).
