Frazier to conduct the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra in Parkersburg | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG – A native of Parkersburg will be the guest conductor of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra for their holiday performances.

Luke Frazier will conduct the symphony for his holiday concert, “Sounds of the season”, December 3, 4 and 5 in Lewisburg, Charleston and Parkersburg, respectively.

The concert features classic selections such as “Have a merry little Christmas” “Deck the Halls”, “Silent night” and “The Christmas Song”. The innovative holiday show features the symphony with vocal numbers, dance performances and an appearance of Santa Claus.

In addition to the classics, this year’s show brings several talented singers and dancers on stage with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the West Virginia State University Chorus and the Symphony Chorus of Parkersburg.

Guest artists include popular Broadway and opera stars Nova Payton and Luke Hawkins, Deepa Johnny, who was a contestant for the TV show “The voice,” Rayshun LaMarr and violinist Regino Madrid.

“The WVSO is delighted to welcome Luke Frazier to lead us for this year’s Sounds of the Season performances,” said President Joe Tackett. “He brings a fun new perspective to our vacation show, and we always look forward to working with West Virginia-born artists like Mr. Frazier.”

The symphony will perform at 7:30 p.m. on December 3 at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. Support for Carnegie’s performance comes from the James FB Payton Fund. Tickets for the concert start at $ 37 and are available at carnegiehallwv.org, at the door or by calling 304 645-7917.

The December 4 concert in Charleston is made possible with the support of ZMM Architects and Engineers, Truist and the West Virginia Lottery. Tickets for the Charleston concert start at $ 19 and are available at wvsymphony.org, at the Clay Center box office, or by calling 304 561-3570.

The symphony will play “Sounds of the season” 2:30 p.m. on December 5 at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg. Hosted by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra of Parkersburg, tickets for the concert start at $ 25 for adults or $ 10 for students and are available on wvsop.org, at the door or by calling 888 699-8767 (MYWVSOP) .

Frazier launched the American Pops Orchestra in 2015 to present popular and classical music in innovative ways to bring new audiences to the orchestral world. Most recently, American Pops Orchestra has been featured on over 12 national shows on PBS with programming ranging from American Roots to a complete reimagining of the musical. “Bad.”

Artists include Midori, Patti Labelle, Joshua Bell, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Josh Groban, among others, have joined the orchestra to share orchestral music for free with audiences across the country.

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is West Virginia’s premier performing arts organization, presenting classical and pop concerts throughout the Highland State. The symphony is in its 83rd season.
