Jackson Symphony Orchestra concert on August 24

The Jackson Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its summer pop concert, Movies and Marches, taking place Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m. CP Federal Square (212 W. Michigan Ave. Jackson, MI 49201).
JOIN US in downtown Jackson to experience music from movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Frozen! Complementing these adventurous film scores are marches including Armed Forces Service Songs, Familiar Early College Songs, and The Stars and Stripes Forever. This concert is part of Downtown Jackson’s Free Summer Concert Series in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority and the Michigan Theater.

ABOUT THE JACKSON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Jackson Symphony Orchestra has a rich and vibrant history serving the Jackson area since 1949. The orchestra has performed with many legendary personalities in the music world including Dizzy Gillespie, Grant Johannesen, Ralph Votapek and Ian Hobson. Additionally, Mannheim Steamroller, Ann Murray, and the Manhattan Transfer invited the orchestra to do multi-state regional tours with them. The orchestra’s repertoire was adventurous and garnered national attention as evidenced by frequent grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition to its Signature Series concerts, the JSO believes in providing a diverse selection of musical offerings for the region, including the Music-on-Tap singer-songwriter series, the music series of Up Close room and Pops concerts. The orchestra operates its own community music school, which annually welcomes more than 300 students of all ages.
