John Denver’s Rocky Mountain High 50th Anniversary with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra will take place on September 8

Originally released on September 15, 1972, Rocky Mountain High was Denver’s first Top 10 album and is officially recognized as Colorado’s second state song as of 2007. It was written while Denver was camping in the Rockies during the Perseid Meteor Shower, expressing her love and wonder for her adopted state.
The Denver Estate will commemorate the anniversary throughout the year, including a special performance with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra on September 8 with audio and video from Denver himself and backed by members of his old group. Other initiatives will be announced soon.

Among its many awards and accolades, Denver has been instrumental in advocating for environmental causes and space exploration. John Denver tragically died in a plane crash on October 12, 1997.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park is a Colorado state park located in Gilpin and Jefferson counties northwest of Golden, Colorado. The 12,119-acre Front Range Park established in 1960 has 35 miles of trails, 18 of which are multi-use trails, and the difficulty ranges from “moderate to most difficult.” The park is easily accessible from the Denver metro area.
