Pittance Chamber Music 2022 SEASON VIII continues with the return of live concerts with a program previously postponed due to the pandemic, Liebeslieder!, now taking place Saturday, April 23, 2022 at First United Methodist Church Pasadena with the extraordinary resident artists of the LA Opera.

A special evening featuring the complete Liebeslieder (Love Songs) by Johannes Brahms, for vocal quartet and piano four hands. LA Opera Chorus members mezzo-soprano Melissa Treinkman, tenor Edmond Rodriguez and baritone James Martin Schaefer are joined by soprano Elissa Johnston, with LA Opera conductors Grant Gershon and Jeremy Frank blacking out at piano four hands. First United Methodist Church Pasadena is an iconic historic building with premium sound and plenty of room for the public to safely distance from each other.

Among the most extraordinary musicians in the world, there are those we rarely see: the musicians of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. Founder and Artistic Director Lisa Sutton, who is also assistant concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, formed Pittance Chamber Music in 2013 to shine the spotlight on these remarkable but invisible artists, bringing them from the pit on stage to perform in small ensembles, hence the name Pittance. Pittance Chamber Music uses a roster of artists from a wide talent pool, including members of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra as well as resident singers of the Los Angeles Opera, resulting in a unique variety of repertoires rarely heard together in one program.
