The Livingston Symphony Orchestra invites you to “Dvorak in America” on May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Livingston High School, 30 Robert Harp Drive, Livingston, 07039.
Under the direction of conductor and master storyteller Maestro Anthony LaGruth, this concert program will take audiences through the progression of early American music, from the influence of Dvorak’s friend and champion, Johannes Brahms, to the work groundbreaking early American composers, and finally Dvorak’s tenure as director of the New Music Conservatory in New York.
This performance includes Brahms’ provocative and moving ‘Tragic Overture’, New England composer Horatio Parker’s lush and melodic ‘A Northern Ballad’ and Dvorak’s masterfully captivating Symphony No. 9, ‘From the New World’.
Concert tickets are available at the door, with discounts for seniors and students and free entry for those under 12. The venue is wheelchair accessible with free adjacent parking.
