Opera Festival Scotland announces 2022 Slate

Scottish Opera Festival announced its 2022 roster.
The season will open with an Opera Highlights concert presented by Scottish Opera.
Performance date: September 22, 2022
The next step will be a seminar entitled ‘Opera in Scotland before 1962’, which will feature Iain Fraser, Peter Fraser and Stephen Fraser.

Julia Lagahuzere of Opera for Peace will moderate a discussion on the development of young artists.

There will be a concert of “Aida” featuring Susan McNaughtShaun Dixon and Simone Ibbett-Brown.

There will be a “30+ Non-Professional Singing Competition” which aims to provide singers who did not study music at an earlier stage in their career and were unable to pursue a career in music. Participants include Simon Willshire, Rosamund Sutherland, Joanne Whalley and Holly Slater.

Opera Bohemia will present “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Catherine ClarkAndrew McTaggart, Charlie Drummond and Arthur Bruce, among others.

There will be a Master Class with soprano Janis Kelly.
Performance date: September 25, 2022
The festival ends with the Young Artists Singing Competition. Finalists include Ted Black, Julieth Lozano, Suzie Gibbons and Jacobo Ochoa, with judges including Janis Kelly, Michelle Williams, Sarah-Jane Davies, Julia Lagahuzere and Linda Ormiston. The Royal Scottish National Orchestra will be conducted by John Frederick Hudson.
