Orchestra brings back the classics – Central Queensland Today

The Rockhampton Youth Orchestra will celebrate the music of famous composers at “The Classics Return” concert on Saturday 11 December.
President Ivan Richardson said the youth orchestra would be joined on that day by CQ Strings & Unisong Choir, presenting a dynamic and exciting program of music from famous names like Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, JS Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Handel and many others.
“We also have special guests performing in the concert,” he said.
“Linda Coombes will delight audiences with her singing Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera and The Prayer.
“Robert Manley is from Brisbane and will perform popular concert works on piano and recorder accompanied by Mary Steer.
“We also have a very special ‘world premiere’ of Isaac Graham’s orchestral composition which will be another highlight of this very special concert.”
Starting at 2pm, the concert will take place in the Auditorium, Rockhampton Baptist Church, at the corner of Farm St and Norman Road, North Rockhampton. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
