Space Force at the Hippodrome with the Coffs Harbor City Orchestra – News Of The Area

FROM asteroid testing to meteor showers, from solar eclipses to NASA mega rockets, 2022 is an exciting year for space-related activities and inspires the new Coffs Harbor City Orchestra – Space Force concert.
This Sunday, June 19, the orchestra presents the concert spaced inside the Coffs Harbor Racing Club.
“Starting at 6 p.m., join the orchestra for a musical roller coaster featuring space-themed music for the screen, classic favorites and popular music,” said Tim Egan, Music Director of the orchestra, at News of The Area.
“A space theme is a little different, but a fun theme to have as it allows the orchestra to present exciting repertoire through different styles of music.
“Different styles of music mean there will be something anyone of any age can enjoy and one of the goals of The Coffs Orchestra is accessibility to a wide range of music for the community,” said Tim .
The orchestra’s musical presentation will include the huge, luminous and propulsive music of John Williams from Star Wars as well as classic favorites like the gripping but effervescent “The Planets” by Gustav Holst.
Rounding them out are some popular tracks like David Bowie’s evocative classic, “Space Oddity.”
“The orchestra cherishes the opportunity to present exciting music for the community, but also to foster and encourage the musical development of local musicians, young and old,” said Josh Jeremy of Coffs Harbor City Orchestra.
Budding local musicians Simon and Daniel Vivas, age one, enjoy being part of the orchestra.
“I love being involved in this wonderful orchestra with people from eleven to nearly ninety years old because it’s such a great experience with breathtaking music and incredibly talented musicians,” said Daniel.
“My favorite piece we’re working on right now is ‘The Mandalorian’ because that piece is so intense and powerful, I can’t believe we’re playing it,” Simon said.
