The SSO String Quartet, composed of Cristina Massotti and Melissa Shaak on violin, Geoff McCausland on viola and Dobrochna Zubek on solo cello, will present the concert.

SSO collaborated with local playwright and actor Matthew Heiti to create a multidisciplinary performance starring local puppeteer Jennifer Hazelton in this reimagined version of the popular Nutcracker production “Tailored and Created for the Occasion”.

The Nutcracker for String Quartet will be presented at All Nations Church at 414 St. Raphael Street in Sudbury on Saturday December 11 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

“Holidays are about traditions and time spent with those we love. We are extremely grateful to have the chance to spend time with you in music this year, ”SSO Artistic Director Mélanie Léonard said in a statement.

The second half of the show will feature the SSO String Ensemble, made up of volunteer musicians who will perform Corelli’s “beloved” Christmas Concerto.

The Northern Brass Quartet will complete the concert with a “catchy” interpretation of a variety of classics such as Frosty the Snowman, The Wassail Song by Yuletide Jazz Suite No. 2, and many more.

“We are proud to present the premiere of our own version of one of the most enduring holiday artistic traditions, The Nutcracker, alongside Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and a performance by the Northern Brass Quartet,” said Leonardo.

“Let us give ourselves the gift of music and the joy of sharing a moment of magic.

Tickets are allocated on a first come, first served basis and room capacity is limited to 50% to comply with Public Health Sudbury & Districts COVID-19 restrictions.

As a result, the SSO encourages the public to buy their tickets early.

Tickets are available online at www.sudburysymphony.com.
