The Crossing at the “In a House Under Siege” premiere

The Crossing is set to premiere “In a House Besieged”, conducted by Donald Nally, starting March 25, 2022 at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH.
The ensemble will then perform the program at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and St. Mark’s Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 26 and 27, respectively.
The concerts feature The Crossing and organist Scott Dettra, in the world premiere of composer Stacy Garrop’s “In a House Besieged”. The work fuses the writings of American novelist and essayist Lydia Davis and reflects the fear and anxiety surrounding the aging process.
“The Cleveland debut of The Crossing will be particularly significant, as Stacy Garrop’s piece is dedicated to the memory of our friend Robert G. Schneider and the work on this piece is written for his two great loves: choir and organ. “said Tom Welsh, director of performing arts at the Cleveland Museum of Art, in an official press release.
The Crossing is a professional chamber choir that has collaborated with some of the world’s leading ensembles and artists, including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestra of American Composers, and Network for New Music, among others. The ensemble has been nominated for seven Grammys and won two awards.
