The Irish Chamber Orchestra presents a festive concert at Birr
Award-winning singer Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh will be in Birr for a special Christmas concert on December 15
The Irish Chamber Orchestra are back on the road with ‘Christmas with Muireann’, a wonderfully festive offering, featuring one of Ireland’s finest singers performing at St Brendan’s Catholic Church, Birr on December 15 next.
Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh is no stranger to ICO having collaborated on the highly successful recording of Roisin Re-Imagined, recently winning Best Folk Track from said album and Best Folk Singer at the RTÉ Radio Folk Awards. Hailing from West Kerry, Muireann has produced stunning albums alongside a successful career in television and radio broadcasting. His repertoire is vast.
Muireann celebrates the tradition of candlelight with his rendition of ‘Tá Coinnle an Linbh Íosa’ alongside the ever-popular ‘Don oíche úd i mBeithil’. Enjoy his jazzy rendition of The Wexford Carol alongside the ethereal Coventry Carol. The iconic “Have Yourself a Very Merry Christmas” is sure to delight audiences.
A virtuoso and exciting ensemble, the Irish Chamber Orchestra is celebrated for its colorful collaborations and exhilarating performances. Katherine Hunka and ICO kick off the season with the succulent Andante Festivo by Sibelius. Concerti grossi op. 6 is packed with variety, color and dance beats and #2 is no exception. Finally, Vivaldi’s Winter from The Four Seasons depicts a festive scene of falling snow, freezing gusts of wind, sliding on ice and chattering teeth! This bewitching music can only warm hearts!
