The Opéra National de Paris has warned its public to regularly consult the official website of the company due to the complicated epidemiological situation.
France recorded 91,608 new cases of COVID-19 on December 22, setting a new pandemic record.
“In the current health context, ensuring that performance is maintained is a daily challenge. Rest assured that we make every effort to ensure that productions for which the artists have been rehearsing for weeks or even months can be presented to you. Your presence, support and applause are more essential than ever at this time when we all look forward to enjoying music and dancing, ”the opera said in a statement.
“However, the identification of positive cases and contact cases of COVID-19 among the performers, often on the day of the performance, may require us to take action a few hours before the curtain rises in order to ensure the performance, whether it is with changes of cast or the presentation of a ballet to music recorded by the Orchester de l’Opéra de Paris. To date, only one performance has had to be canceled. We therefore invite you to consult the Opera website www.operadeparis.fr, where performance information is constantly updated. We will also inform you by SMS and e-mail if necessary.
