Warminster Symphony Orchestra presents “Scandinavian Sojourn”

The Warminster Symphony Orchestra’s Saturday May 21 concert at the William Tennent Auditorium, 333 Centennial Road, Warminster, offers an escape to the magical lands of fjords, castles, forests and fairy tales.
The 8 p.m. program includes the ever-popular “Peer Gynt Suite,” by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg; the symphonic work “Helios Overture” by Danish composer Carl Nielsen; the “Karelia Suite”, a work based on ancient Norse legends and brimming with Finnish pride by Jean Sibelius; and a play by Johan Halvorsen that is often touted as “the most popular march in the world” – “Boyars’ Entrance March”.
And – as a special treat, soprano Holly Gash will recreate the role of famous “Swedish Nightingale”, Jenny Lind. In his first appearance with the WSO, Gash will perform two beloved tunes.
“Whether you’re hearing Nordic classical music for the first time or are a lifelong fan, you’ll be captivated by our interpretation of this rhythmic and expressive style,” said Joseph Lovecchio, Musical Director and Conductor of the Warminster Symphony Orchestra.
“And, after acclaiming soprano Holly Gash embodying the vocal legacy of Swedish sensation Nightingale, Jenny Lind, will add a nostalgic thrill to the programme.”
