Winnipeg Pops Orchestra returns to live performances

The WPO will be joined by a number of special guests, including the Westwood Community Band led by Virginia Helmer, singer Michelle Wood, Winnipeg composer Anna Schwartz and artist Shirley Elias.
Songs will include favorites like Lord of the Dance, The Water is Wide, Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, The Skater’s Waltz, Gabriel’s Oboe (from the movie “The Mission”, plus songs and arrangements by Johann Strauss, Astor Piazzolla, Anna Schwartz, Owen Clark, Phil Winkless and many more.
Manitoba Health restrictions will be in place for this event and all attendees and performers will require proof of vaccinations. Masks will be mandatory at all times on the site. Please note that this is a scent-free event.
300 tickets will be available for free at https://welcomebackwpo.eventbrite.ca starting Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. A voluntary offering will be taken at intermission for contributions to cover the costs of the event. Free street parking is available, as well as the north and south lots of the church (NOT behind the church).
The Winnipeg Pops Orchestra is a community organization that performs popular and classical music. This group of dedicated musicians has a wide range of ages and abilities, and performs across Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. The WPO fosters a community tradition by reaching out to young musicians, encouraging local talent, and providing a fun and challenging experience for all members.
